Flourish
maximizing performance and creativity for you and your executive team
Welcome, I’m Zhi Tsun, MD PhD
(first name pronounced like the letter Z)
I’m a Harvard and MIT-trained, integrative psychiatrist and longevity doctor. I help people live vibrantly, for as long as possible.
I completed my MD at Harvard and studied metabolism and longevity for my PhD at MIT, discovering and characterizing some of the biochemical reactions in our bodies that lead to health and disease. My PhD lab discovered some of the foundational science in longevity and is often cited by longevity experts like Peter Attia, MD. Check out the podcasts with Peter and my PhD advisor here and here. My research has given me a deep understanding of what truly impacts longevity, from cellular function to overall well-being.
I’ve personally experimented with different types of diets (caloric, time or dietary restricted) and exercise approaches, experiencing firsthand the impact they can have on mood, energy, mental acuity and stamina. I’ve taken supplements in addition to the typical pharmaceutical medications and appreciate the role each can play. I have also optimized my sleep with wearables, a cooling bed, and various bedtime routines. So the recommendations I make on sleep, diet and exercise, not only have been effective for my patients, I have also experimented personally.
How to live vibrantly for as long as possible
-
Heart attacks and strokes: #1 killer worldwide, 50% men and 33% women have their event before age 65. Yet very preventable using a longevity approach. Disease process starts in teenage years, 80% have blood vessel damage by age 40.
Alzheimer’s and dementia: not treatable but actually very preventable!
Cancer: mostly bad luck unless cancer runs in your family. Early detection and treatment is best.
Diabetes, metabolic dysfunction, and inflammation: like adding gas to the fires above
-
As a 90+ yr old, how do you continue doing the things you love? Like staying physically active, picking up your grandchildren without injury, and traveling with ease?
Build and maintain muscle mass: without dedicated effort, we can lose ~50% of our muscle mass by our 80s and 90s
Strength: beyond age 65, we can lose 50-80% of our strength
Stability: falling is the #1 cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries in older adults
Stamina: our muscle fibers and strength of our heart and lungs decline with age
-
What does flourishing look like for you? For many, this includes feeling happy, energized in the things you do, having a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and feeling connected to yourself and in your relationships.
Living in alignment with your values: what’s most important to you in life? Are you making decisions and allocating time in alignment with your values?
Sleep: do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Do you wake up feeling rejuvenated and excited for the day?
Emotional health: anxiety and depression are common in older age but entirely preventable
Relationships: how close are you with your spouse? Your children? Other close friends and family?
My Approach
My goal is to empower you to flourish. Just treating a mental health condition doesn’t automatically result in flourishing. it requires dedicated effort to identify one’s values and to live by them. So I go beyond just treatment and equip you to live life to the fullest. Each person is unique but often this means feeling happy, energized in the things you do, having a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and cultivating meaningful relationships.
As an integrative psychiatrist, I use a holistic approach and integrate various modalities, such as:
Sleep Rejuvenation
Talk Therapy
Medications
Supplements
Lifestyle Coaching
Functional Lab Testing
Mind-Body Practices
Leadership Coaching
Longevity Enhancement
By addressing the root cause of your suffering and drawing from this toolkit of approaches, I empower you with the knowledge and tools to flourish.
